LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have named their Most Valuable Player for the 2019-2020 season.

They have given the Harry Ingarfield Memorial Award to Dylan Cozens.

“It’s a huge honour to be selected as the MVP and I just wanted to thank you guys for your support throughout the seasons,” Cozens said.

Serving as the Co-Captain, he appeared in 51 games in the regular season, totalling a team-high of 85 points (38a-85a).

Cozens lead the team in all three offensive categories.

“Dylan had such a great year, both with us and helping lead Canada to a gold medal at the World Juniors, he kind of did it all,” said Hurricanes head coach Brent Kisio. “He’s a guy that has been highly touted his whole career and has shown up every night while leading our group as one of our captains.”

Cozens tied for fifth in WHL scoring in goals, seventh in total points, and finished atop the league in shorthanded goals.

He was picked seventh overall in the 2019 NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabres.

Cozens was an integral part of Team Canada’s 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship gold medal, registering nine points (2g-7a) along with six penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating in seven tournament games.

He also collected two assists in two games as part of the CIBC Canada Russia Series.

In his career, Cozens has appeared in 179 regular-season games with the Hurricanes, totalling 223 points (95g-128a) along with 88 penalty minutes and a plus-49 rating. He is 17th all-time in Hurricanes franchise goals, 19th all-time in franchise assists, and is 18th all-time in franchise points.
