Trial dates set for cocaine smuggling case at Coutts
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) called it the largest seizure of cocaine ever at the Coutts Border Crossing.
Gurminder Singh Toor and Kirandeep Kaur Toor were arrested at the international border in Southern Alberta in December 2017. At the time of the alleged offences, the pair were 31 and 26-years-old respectively.
According to the joint investigation by CBSA and Alberta RCMP, the two were hauling produce from California to a business in Alberta in a commercial vehicle.
While examining the cab, officers reportedly found 84 bricks of cocaine with a total weight of 99.5 kg.
