COVID-19 outbreak declared at Gilbert Paterson Middle School

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 at Gilbert Paterson Middle School in Lethbridge.

The Lethbridge School Division received a notice of cases from AHS on January 12.

An outbreak is declared by the government if there are two or more confirmed cases in a school setting (staff/child) within a 14-day period OR two or more confirmed cases (staff/child) that are epidemiologically linked. There are three confirmed infections at the school.

The division said that the Lethbridge school will remain open, based on the advice of Alberta Education.

AHS has proceeded with defining close contacts of the three cases within the school context and those individuals will be contacted by the school via email.
