KB Plumbing and Heating Donates $100K to Lethbridge College

Lethbridge College has received a $100,000 dollar multi faceted donation from a local company.

KB Plumbing and Heating is committing the money to three major areas at the school.

Funding will be directed to a classroom named after the company in the new trades and technologies facility as well as three different student awards.

College President and CEO Dr. Paula Burns says partnerships like these mean an incredible amount to the school.

“I think the contribution to the classroom is certainly one thing in the trades and technology but the student awards are really key and I’m really appreciative they spread them across differenty areas including Office Administration.”

The new student awards will be dolled out in three areas:

 – three annual $500 awards for plumbing, the very first awards created for the brand new Plumbing Apprenticeship program
 – one annual $1,000 award for engineering technologies alternating between the Engineering Design and Drafting program and the Civil Engineering Technology program
 – one annual $1,000 award for the Administrative Office Professional program, in recognition of the invaluable role played by office staff in KB’s operations

KB Plumbing and Heating has partnered with the College on numerous projects over many years – including the college’s new trades and technologies facility.

KB Plumbing and Heating General Manager Scott Murakami says the trades and the college are an important part of the community.

“We want to give back. We’ve been living here for 30, 40, 50 years and we appreciate the importance of the community and this is our way of giving back to something like this. It is important to us.”

The college’s new trades and technologies facility is KB Plumbing and Heating’s largest project ever.

It is expected to be complete by September 2017.
