Lethbridge School District 51 Eliminating Basic School Fees

LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge School District 51 is eliminating basic school fees for students in middle and high school, starting in the 2016/2017 school year.

A motion was passed unanimously at the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday.

The elimination of these fees will save $53 per middle-school student and $70 for each student currently attending high school.

Basic school fees for elementary students were eliminated back in 2011/2012.

Board Chair Mich Forster says by eliminating these fees, they hope it reduces at least some of the burden families are facing as the province experiences an economic slowdown.
