Federal Government Announces Changes To Advance Payments Program

Feb 8, 2016 | 3:50 PM

Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay says new regulations that take effect in 2016 simplify access to cash advances under the Advance Payments Program.

He says they also make the program more flexible for farmers.

New commodities now qualify for advances under the loan guarantee program, including specific classes of breeding cattle, hog, sheep, and goats intended for market.

Producers can also now use more types of security to obtain an advance such as private or other types of insurance.
