LETHBRIDGE – A 14-year old boy will be getting an absolute discharge, as long as he successfully completes nine months of probation.

The youth, who can’t be identified, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon dangerous to the public Tuesday morning in court.

He admitted that on December 4, 2015, he was with a group of boys, one of which had a black BB gun pistol. He asked to use it, then approached a woman filling her car at the gas bar at the 7-11 on 23rd Street North, and pointed the weapon at her. He walked back to the group, and as police arrived at the scene he was observed dropping the weapon.

After hearing from both sides, the judge called it “An error in judgement”, and imposed the nine months of probation. During that time the youth must attend school, complete 10-hours of community service and attend any counselling that is recommended.
