LETHBRIDGE – A 53-year old former Taber man who was found guilty of sexual assault two years ago, has been released from custody pending a new trial.

It was revealed in court in March that Jordan Van Voorthuizen’s conviction was overturned by Alberta’s Court of Appeal.

He was handed nine years in prison in April of 2014, after a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting two boys on multiple occasions between 1995 and 2001, following his trial in September of 2013.

He was released on $5,000 bail Monday morning, and will be living with an acquaintance of his in Lethbridge.
