LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police have charged six people and seized an assortment of loaded firearms, weapons and drugs after a search warrant was executed at a southside home last week.

On May 26, 2016, a short term investigation by members of the Priority Crimes Unit, with assistance from the ALERT Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a home along the 800 block of 6 Street South. Due to the presence of weapons in the home, the members of the Tactical Team and Explosive Disposal Unit were called out to assist.

A total of 12 people were inside the residence at the time and most exited immediately and surrendered to police without incident. Five subjects would not leave the home and after several hours of negotiation and use of the loud haler, CS gas was deployed. Four subjects exited the property at that time and police located the fifth still inside hiding in a bedroom.

A search of the home resulted in the recovery of 16 firearms (seven were loaded), as well as a variety of weapons including crossbows, brass knuckles and a baton with a CEW/flashlight. Quantities of drugs including methamphetamine, LSD, psilocybin, hash, heroin and cannabis resin were also seized along with a large amount of stolen jewelry, tools, electronics and bicycles.

Investigators have already identified some of the owners of the stolen property and those individuals will be contacted in the near future. Police have process about half of the exhibits, and ask that the public refrain from calling in to inquire at this time.

Eldon Jon Myers, 44, of Lethbridge is facing 89 charges – mostly weapons-related as well as one count of resisting arrest. Myers has already made his first court appearance.

Mark Andrew Hagen, 27, is charged with resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court June 2.

Janice Renee Johnston, 41, is charged with resisting arrest. She is scheduled to appear in court June 29.

Shalynn Nicole Krushel, 19, is charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer. She is scheduled to appear in court June 29.

Timothy John Pilgrim, 44, is charged with knowingly possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court June 29.

Emily Cora Derksen, 32, is charged with one count of resisting arrest. She is scheduled to appear in court June 29.

“For our unit, that’s probably the most we’ve seen in a while. We’ve laid some 30 or 40 counts, and we’re still expecting that number to grow,” noted Sergeant Mark Smallbones.

Police continue to investigate at this time.
