LETHBRIDGE – The case against 20-year old Denzel Dre Colton Bird is back on track, as his lawyer has returned and a new date has been set for a bail hearing.

Last week (Nov. 3), lawyer Greg White withdrew from the case, saying their was a potential conflict that had to be resolved. He added at the time that he was confident it would be worked out.

With Bird appearing via CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre this morning (Nov. 10), an agent appearing for White stated that he could be returned to the record as counsel, and asked for an adjournment to December 2.

Bird faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and break and enter, in connection with what Lethbridge Police call a random attack on a 25-year old Lethbridge woman on September 30, 2016.

According to the police investigation, the victim was walking to work that morning when she was struck with a weapon, dragged into the alley off 6 Avenue South and sexually assaulted. They also noted that the victim and the accused do not know each other.

It’s anticipated that a bail hearing will be held for Bird when he returns to court next month.
