Three Lethbridge residents charged in stabbing

LETHBRIDGE –   Two men and a woman, all from the city, have been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with a stabbing.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday (Apr. 22), police were called to an assault along Berkeley Place West.

Officers found two men, aged 19 and 22, who were transported to Chinook Regional Hospital.  The victims suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body which were initially deemed life-threatening. The 19-year-old victim also sustained a serious head injury and was subsequently airlifted to Calgary by STARS.

Both men remain in hospital.

An investigation determined the men had been assaulted by a group of people who were known to them. Prior to the physical confrontation, the victims and subjects had been taunting one another

The three people arrested include 25-year old Joel McKenzie Guzman, 24-year old Angela Dawn Spearchief and 30-year old Dustin Courtney Okimaw.  They have each been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

Guzman made an initial court appearance on Monday, April 24.

Spearchief and Okimaw are scheduled to appear in court April 28.
