Jun 9, 2017 | 9:44 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Crews continued the cleanup Friday (June 9) from the previous night’s severe thunderstorm.

Trees were downed or damaged and streets were flooded, as the storm passed through Lethbridge Thursday (June 8) evening. The city was hit by more than 21 mm of rain and wind gusts as high as 115 km/h. Hail was reported in some areas, and power was knocked out in several neighbourhoods.

City of Lethbridge crews that would normally have been street sweeping were reassigned to help unclog catch basins. Five city arborists spent the night cleaning up felled trees and branches. Electrical crews dealt with outages and waterworks employees were also involved in the response.

People who continue to have issues are asked to call the city’s Public Operations department at 403-320-3850.
