LETHBRIDGE – The Canadian Home Builders’ Association Lethbridge Region held a preview this afternoon (Sept. 8) for their four year College Home located at 125 Sixmile Bend South.

All of the proceeds from sales are donated to the new Trades and Technologies Facility at Lethbridge College.

CHBA Executive Chief Officer, Angela Zuba, said the program has exceeded expectations.

“We wanted to do something that would ensure that there are a lot of good skilled trades people in the area. When people see this home they are going to see some very unique and high end furnishings with a home designed to enhance the liveability of a family.”

Empire Homes Owner, Wes Carroll, noted that the partnership has helped his business build a bright future for generations of tradesmen in Lethbridge.

“We make our living in the community and this is to give back to the community, working with Lethbridge College it’s nice that we can keep the younger generations in the city.”

In 2013, CHBA has promised to build 10 homes over five years.

Caroll said he has employed registered apprentice program students in the past and hopes the donation to the new trades facility will help facilitate local companies hiring new talent.

The new College Home will be open to the public on Saturday September 10 at 1 p.m.
