LETHBRIDGE – A multiple bank robbery case that’s been in Provincial Court in Lethbridge since early 2015 will come to a conclusion in a B.C courtroom.

Greg White, who had been representing Shaun Christopher Cornish in Lethbridge, explained during an appearance in September that his client’s other lawyer in British Columbia had worked out a resolution there that would cover all of his charges.

When Cornish’s name didn’t appear on the docket in Lethbridge on Wednesday (Oct. 19), White stated that the waiver had gone through. As a result of the waiver to another jurisdiction, Cornish must now enter a guilty plea.

Cornish was arrested and charged after nine banks – including one in Lethbridge – were robbed in Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan between December of 2014 and January of 2015.

In the Lethbridge incident on January 13, 2015, a male walked into the TD Bank along the 2000 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South, approached the tellers, produced a firearm and demanded cash. He then fled after an undisclosed amount of money was handed over.

Cornish was arrested on January 30, 2015, at a hotel in Grande Prairie by Calgary RCMP and the Emergency Response Team.

Kamloops based Crown Counsel, Evan Goulet, confirmed that charges from all jurisdictions in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan are being waived to Kamloops Provincial Court, with Cornish set to make his next appearance on October 31.
