First candidate steps forward in run up to October Civic election

LETHBRIDGE –   He has an extensive background in municipal government and is hoping that will give him the advantage, as he signals his intent to run for City Council.
 
Nick Paladino is not only born and raised in Lethbridge, but spent 30 years as Manager of Planning and Development for Lethbridge County, where he was also the Development Officer, before retiring in 2013.  He believes his public service background would be an asset for the city.
 
 Paladino plans to spend much of the summer working on details of his campaign and visiting as many residents and businesses as possible. In a news release, he outlined some key issues.
 
 “I think it’s clear that initiatives supporting economic development, the downtown and the airport are vital, but I look forward to chatting with people to determine what other common issues the citizens of Lethbridge want their next Council to address.”
 
Paladino plans to self fund his campaign and notes that as the city nears the 100,000 population mark fresh vision and focus is needed to reassess services and facilities.
 
The Civic election is set for October 16, with nomination papers to be filed on September 18.
