Hurricanes select local product Stringer with 8th overall pick
LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have used their first-round selection in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft on a local product.
Zack Stringer, a 15-year-old forward, spent the season as an underage player with the Midget AAA Hurricanes. Stringer had 17 goals and 13 assists in 23 games during the regular season, adding 16 points in 10 postseason games, and 10 more points to help Lethbridge win bronze at the Telus Cup.
“Zack went to the Telus Cup and put up great numbers; he did just about what Sidney Crosby did at the Telus Cup as he is in an elite group that went to the Telus Cup as a 14-year-old hockey player,” Hurricanes head scout Rob MacLachlan said in a news release.
