Cranbrook woman filmed in racist rant gets job back after being dismissed

LETHBRIDGE —  It appears the Cranbrook, B.C. woman who lost her job at a vehicle dealership in that city because of her racist rant at Denny’s in Lethbridge, may have her job back.

Kelly Pocha was let go from her position at Cranbrook Dodge after her racist video rant went viral on social media in May.

The incident happened on April 21, while Pocha and her husband were visiting from Cranbrook, where they live. One of the men targeted in the rant recorded the incident on his cell phone and later released it on social media, where it took off like wildfire.

In an exclusive interview which contained the video, Pocha told Lethbridge-News-NOW that she had been drinking that night, and she and her husband went into the Denny’s to grab something to eat. She claimed three men at the table behind them “started talking in their own language” behind her back, and were laughing at her and she believes, “making fun of her.” It set her off.

After the incident made the rounds on various social media and she came under fire from the public, Dave Girling and the Cranbrook Dodge Team released a statement:

“We have recently become aware of a disturbing video that involves one of our employees. We are deeply concerned about the content of this video and want all of our friends, families, colleagues, and customers to know that this behaviour does not reflect the values of Cranbrook Dodge in any way. We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive company with no room for hate or intolerance.

The employee in question has been terminated and we deeply apologize for her actions.”

However, on Thursday, June 21, LethbridgeNewsNOW sister outlet in Cranbrook, CHDR-FM, learned Pocha was back working at Cranbrook Dodge and the General Sales Manager, said her termination was only temporary.

Lethbridge-New-Now has contacted the dealership, but they have not returned requests for a resposne.
