LETHBRIDGE COUNTY – Speeding and reckless driving have been a problem in roadwork zones, according to a news release from Lethbridge County.

It said with several projects underway, crews are frequently experiencing such incidents. Drivers are asked to observe signage.

The county is urging motorists to not only observe posted speeds but to watch for changes to traffic lanes. Speeding fines are double when workers are present, even if they are farther down the road.

Chief administrative officer Ann Mitchell points out speed zones and restrictions are in place to ensure workers can do their job in a safe environment.
