Numerous collisions on slippery roads around southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE – Snow and ice caused havoc on southern Alberta highways Monday night, Nov. 6 and Tuesday morning, Nov. 7.
The Highway 3 bridge in Lethbridge was closed in both directions for a period of time Monday evening due to multiple collisions. Lethbridge police had the scene cleared by around 8:30 p.m. Coalhurst Fire Department responded to collisions on the Highway 3 bridge near Monarch and between Coalhurst and Lethbridge.
Early Tuesday, RCMP reported multiple vehicles in the ditch along Highway 3 between Pincher Creek and Cowley. Travel was not recommended in the area.
The 511 Alberta website reported snow-covered and icy highways in a number of areas, including Highway 3 between Brocket and the Crowsnest Pass, Highway 2 between Fort Macleod and Granum and between Standoff and the U.S. border, Highway 5 between Spring Coulee and Waterton, and Highway 22 between Lundbreck and the Highway 520 junction.
