Jake Leschyshyn and Nick Henry heading to Lethbridge following trade with Regina

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced Thursday that they’ve acquired forwards Jake Leschyshyn and Nick Henry from the Regina Pats in exchange for forwards Ty Kolle, Jadon Joseph and seven draft picks.

The seven draft picks heading to the Pats from the Hurricanes include a first-round draft pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft (LET), a first in 2020 (SC), a third in 2019 (LET), an eighth in 2019 (SC), a fourth in 2022 (LET) as well as conditional third-round draft picks in 2021 (LET) and 2022 (LET).

Leschyshyn, a 19-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round, 62nd overall in the 2017 National Hockey League Draft. 

He has skated in 213 career games with the Pats accumulating 131 points (61g-70a) along with 145 penalty minutes.

In 28 career post-season games, Leschyshyn has recorded 10 points (5g-5a) along with a plus-1 rating and 10 penalty minutes.

Jake is the son of former NHL defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn.

Another 19-year-old, Henry is a product of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and had a career-high 81 points (35g-46a) in 2016-2017.

He was picked by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round, 94th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. 

In 150 career games, all with the Pats, Henry has totalled 150 points (64g-86a) along with a plus-24 rating and 105 penalty minutes.

He has skated in 29 career post-season games collecting 16 points (7g-9a) along with a plus-5 rating and 18 penalty minutes. Henry added seven points (5g-2a) in five Memorial Cup games last year.

Heading the other way is Joseph, 19, who spent his entire three-year WHL career with the Hurricanes after being selected in the fifth round, 98th overall in the 2014 Bantam Draft. 

The product of Sherwood Park, Alberta had a career-high 32 points (9g-23a) along with 18 penalty minutes in 53 games last season. He has skated in 144 career games registering 66 points (22g-44a) while adding another 15 points (5g-10a) in 36 career playoff games with the Hurricanes.

Kolle, 18, was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Portland Winterhawks in October.
