RCMP in Cardston lay charges following home robbery investigation

CARDSTON – A man from Brockett is facing numerous offences after an investigation by Cardston RCMP into a robbery at a local home.

According to police, on Dec. 17 around noon RCMP responded to a robbery in Cardston where an elderly woman was threatened with a weapon, assaulted and robbed of her vehicle and wallet at her residence.

The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment and released soon after.

The victim’s bank cards were then used multiple times and police were then able to positively identify the person responsible from surveillance video.

RCMP and the Blood Tribe Police Service managed to locate the stolen vehicle in Stand Off and arrested 26-year-old Riley Mistaken Chief for the offence.

Mistaken Chief is currently charged with a number of offences and is set to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Thursday, Dec. 20.
