Work to restrict Whoop-Up Drive Thursday

LETHBRIDGE — Expect delays as the city plans to complete work Thursday, Oct. 13 on an emergency median crossover.

Between 1 and 3 p.m. crews will close one lane in each direction on Whoop-Up Drive at the University Drive overpass. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h while the work is going on.

Crossovers were built at University Drive and Scenic Drive during the summer as part of an emergency traffic plan by the city. The crossovers will allow for two-way traffic should one side of Whoop-Up Drive be closed.

The emergency plan also outlines using both sides of the road for eastbound travel should West Lethbridge ever need to be evacuated.
