FORT MACLEOD – RCMP are investigating a fatal collision just west of Fort Macleod.

Around 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, police say a four-door sedan crossed the centre line on Highway 3 just west of the Highway 810 intersection and struck a pickup truck. The eastbound car then rolled into a ditch along the north side of the highway. The 44-year old man driving the car was taken to Fort Macleod hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 38-year old truck driver declined medical treatment.

A traffic analyst was still at the scene later Thursday morning, but the highway was open.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, RCMP now say all contributing factors to the collision are being investigated. The victim’s name has not been released.
